Learning Path Valorisation and Impact | IXA

Have you ever thought about the impact your research or idea could have outside academia? IXA offers a new learning track on valorisation and impact. The goal? To inspire you and make you aware of the power of creating value and impact through your research, and how to actually achieve that impact.

For who?
Are you a researcher at one of Amsterdam’s knowledge institutions (UvA, VU, Amsterdam UMC and HvA) and want to learn how to create impact with your idea or research? Then join this program. The learning program is particularly suitable for PhD students and postdocs who want to learn how to valorise their research.

The content of the learning path valorisation and impact
The learning path consists of 3 workshops in 2 modules interspersed with online information.

Module 1: Impact through research: in-depth look at valorisation
In this half-day workshop, we will explore what impact means to you, how it can benefit your research, and how to take the first steps toward creating impact.

Duration: one session of 3 hours
Time investment: approximately 6 hours (including homework assignments)
Location: The knowledge institutions will alternate hosting the sessions.

Module 2: Impact through research: focusing on your own practice
In this module, you will work on your own idea. During two interactive half-day sessions, you will further develop and concretise your idea.

Duration: 2 times a 3-hour session
Time investment: approximately 12 hours (including homework assignments)
Location: The knowledge institutions will alternate hosting the sessions.

Throughout the course, the focus is on translating your research into an idea that can evolve into a service, product or way of public outreach.

IXA hosts the Valorisation and Impact Learning Path workshops several times a year.

The workshops
The workshops are structured so that you can attend them sequentially, ideally completing the “Indepth” workshop before attending the “Focus on your own practice” session. Register for all three workshops in one cohort.
